Sabrina Carpenter had no idea her coffee anthem “Espresso” would be a big deal. Released in April, the song has since gone global and is now the most streamed song of the year on Spotify with over 1.6 billion streams. Carpenter who didn’t think it would do well is now enjoying the ride and the opportunities that come with it.
“I didn’t think it would connect,” the Grammy nominee said. “But the sentiment, sound and confidence in the song I believed in. I had literally no idea anyone would like it but I liked it and that was all that mattered to me in that moment.”
“Espresso” has become a thing of its own and has inspired a Saturday Night Live parody and a partnership with Dunkin’. The partnership introduces “Sabrina’s Brown Sugar Shakin’ Espresso” a drink she loves and calls a blend of her personal and artistic self.
A Coffee Collaboration That Hits Home
As an East Coaster and a lifelong Dunkin’ fan, Carpenter says the partnership felt like a no-brainer. “Dunkin’ was my childhood and has followed me into adulthood,” she said. “When they approached me about the collab, it just made sense. This drink is something I love and they’ve been great about keeping it true to the spirit of ‘Espresso’.
Beyond the drink, Carpenter sees the partnership as a way to connect with fans. “People really value connection, especially now,” she said. “When I’m not on tour, partnerships like this let me reach fans in fun, unexpected ways—whether it’s at their nearest Dunkin’ or right at their doorstep.”
Celebrating Success and Looking Ahead
As the year wraps up, Carpenter talks about what “Espresso” means to her. “It’s the perfect way to end the year, we’ll celebrate this song that won’t go away. Once it does we’ll talk then,” she said.
Looking ahead Carpenter has projects coming up including an A Nonsense Christmas special on Netflix, new music and her ever changing sense of style. For now she’s just enjoying the moment—one sip at a time.
Carpenter’s journey with “Espresso” is proof that believing in yourself and following your passion can be pretty magical.
